I'm excited to share this Valentine's Day project with you. It was pretty easy to make. I got the heart pattern from Stampin' Up! traced it twice on Designer Series Paper, cut out, and taped the flaps together using Sticky Strip. I made these for my co-workers and daughter. It's been a while since I've had time to stamp and share. Here's a simple Valentine's Day card that I made for a friend. I saw it in the latest edition of my Stampin' Success magazine. The card in the magazine featured Marina Mist, but I wanted pink so I replace Marina Mist with Regal Rose. I kept the other two colors (Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla). Enjoy. I wish everyone a happy Easter! Ginny and I made some (well, maybe a lot of) cookies for Easter. We made both butter and sugar cookies. We used a cookie stamp on the butter cookies. For the sugar cookies, I tried a new royal icing recipe that turned out well. (Thanks, Foodnetwork!) Since we had so many cookies, we bagged a few up to give to our neighbors. Here's a picture of the bags and a close up of the tags. Of course we had to use some Stampin' Up! product somewhere. The tag is stamped from the Eggcoutrements stamp set in the Occasions Mini Catalog. Almost all of the stamped images in that stamp set can be punched out. Woo-hoo!! For my last display item, I wanted to try something that I hadn't seen yet. I was inspired by the flower pins made using the Big Shot and fabric. I thought I could try to make a bird pin out of card stock since the punches don't cut through fabric like the Big Shot does. I wanted to give the card stock a little something extra so I used a couple coats of Crystal Effects to reinforce the card stock and give it that little something extra. Here's the result. Here's my first card that I made with the XL Bird Punch. I'm not sure why it scanned so blurry. Sorry about that. It was really easy to create the bird with the punch. More Heart Treat Cups

Tonight Ginny and I made Valentines for her grandparents and cousins. We used the Heart Treat Cups. It was a little trickier that I had anticipated punching the heart after stamping the image that goes around the heart since you can't see the stamped image when your card stock is in the punch. So a quick tip is to mark the center with a pencil so that you have a better chance of centering your punch. Even if it isn't perfect, the recipients will enjoy your art from the heart!! It was also a little tricky placing the filled cup on the card stock backing. I don't have a real great tip for that other than it seemed to work holding the cup and card stock at an angle. The tape isn't super sticky on the cup so if you need to reposition the cup, you can. All images are copyrighted by Stampin' Up!

100 Bears

Today is the Art for Kids at TMHS. My friend Lecia and I are hosting a table for kids to dress paper Build-A-Bears. We're making 100 bears each with accessories. Here's what my 100 bears look like. It was pretty easy to die cut them all in a fairly short period of time. I was able to put 2 through the Big Shot at a time so I only had to crank the handle 50 times instead of 100! I'm having fun playing around with the clear mounted version of the I {Heart} Hearts stamp set. At first I thought it might be better to stick with the wood mounted blocks since I needed to use the same acrylic block for all 4 hearts. But then as I tried to squeeze all 4 hearts on one small piece of card stock, I figured out the brilliance of using the clear acrylic blocks. I was able to get all 4 hearts only because I was able to see exactly where I was stamping. I'm sold on the clear mounted stamps and clear acrylic blocks now!! Purple & Yellow Color Challenge

My most recent copy of Stampin' Success had an article titled "The Purple & Yellow Craze." In the article, we were challenged to pair purple & yellow in our next project. Purple & yellow are natural complements since they are directly across from each other on the color wheel.

Last week my dear Aunt Debi passed away. I wanted to hand stamp a special card for her family. I remembered a card design (see the Barely Banana & Real Red card) from a few year ago that I still really love so I decided to make another card using that template and changing the colors to Almost Amethyst and Barely Banana. I was making two cards and goofed on one of the cards (I stamped the diamond image on the wrong side) so I rotated the design 90 degrees, and I think it turned out fine.

I'm back from Leadership, and I can't wait to share everything with you! At Leadership, we received the With All My Heart stamp set from the new Occasions Mini Catalog and used it for our make and takes. Here are two cards that we made with the stamp set. For one of the cards (the Bashful Blue one), Stampin' Up! gave us enough supplies to make two cards so that we could donate one card to the Ronald McDonald House. Stampin' Up! is a national sponsor of the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). Every year Stampin' Up! designs an exclusive stamp set to help raise money for RMHC. Whew! It's been a busy holiday season. Sorry for not posting more. I'm so excited. I'm heading off to Phoenix tomorrow for Leadership. I wanted to post a copy of my swap card before I swapped them all out!! This card uses the new Vintage Vogue stamp set in the new Occasions Mini Catalog. Almost all stamps in the new mini come with your choice of wood mount or clear mount. I used the clear mounted stamps for the first time. It was fun to work with them and see where you're stamping. I will be ordering the clear mounted stamps from now on!! (Plus they're easier to store!) I made this card using Pretty in Pink, Whisper White, Melon Mambo, and Crushed Curry. Here's a quick and easy present I made for a few friends this past weekend. I used the Matchbox die, chocolate chip card stock, and Christmas-themed designer series paper to create a few of these cute matchboxes. Anniversary Card

My sister's 10th wedding anniversary is today. Congratulations, JoAnna and Paul!! I pondered and pondered which stamp set would be best. My first thought was flowers (good for any occasion!), but I wasn't quite inspired to use them. Then I remembered I have the All in the Family stamp set. I could customize a family card for them. Here's the result. I used the new Soft Suede for the card background and So Saffron for the accent. I even decided to dust off my Watercolor Wonder Crayons, too. Back to School Ideas

I was inspired by an article in my Stampin' Success magazine from Stampin' Up! and from an email from Family Fun to create decorate some back to school supplies for my daughter. Here's the notebook that I decorated for her. She's still a pink girl and loves butterflies. The butterflies are cut using the Big Shot. They are doubled-layered with a coordinating solid color butterfly underneath and a patterned butterfly on top. The butterfly on top is only attached at the middle so that the edges of the wings are free. I debated about whether to add more embellishments like buttons, brads, but I was concerned that they may catch on something and tear off so I kept it unembellished. New Stamp Set Swap

I am participating in a swap with my upline. We are to create 36 cards using a new SU! stamp set. I decided to use Animal Stories and the coordinating Tall Tales DSP. Here's a picture of my swap. Big Shot Clear Flower Die

The Big Shot is so much fun!! Stampin' Up! just released a preview of the Holiday Mini Catalog, and there are a lot of fun things including a Build-a-Bear Big Shot die!! Can you believe it?? I can't wait to get my hands on that one. In the meantime, here's a fun project that I did with my daughter's Daisy troop. We had a tea party for the guests at the Bridge. We had a flower theme so we made these cute center pieces using Candy Lane DSP and the clear Big Shot flower and butterfly dies. Animal Stories

The 2009-2010 Idea Book & Catalog is here! (Well, almost here- you can order from the new catalog now, but I'm still waiting for my shipment of catalogs.) I did receive my complimentary copy of the catalog, and I'm so excited with the new products and new In Colors! I was able to preorder the Animal Stories stamp set and Tall Tales Designer Series Paper (DSP). I needed quick thank you cards tonight so I was able to use scrap Tall Tales DSP on these love note-sized cards. I think they turned out pretty cute. I tend not to pre-buy hostess stamps sets because I can usually get them for free later on, but when I saw this stamp set, I couldn't resist. You can use a punch to cut out every stamped image! It doesn't get much easier than that! And when I saw the sample in the Idea Book & Catalog of creating a set of Christmas gift tags, I was sold on this stamp set!! Matchbox Big Shot Die

The Matchbox die is new in the Occasions Mini Catalog. This is a fun and easy way to create small boxes that fit 4 Hershey Nuggets or any other small item. It folds up quickly with no adhesive required for the box! It's fun to mix and match papers. I used Kiwi Kiss card stock on the bottom and Bella Rose DSP for the cover. I've also used clear window sheets for the cover as well. The tag is made using the stamps in the Great Friend stamp set also new in the Occasion Mini Catalog.
